Today in music class, first we learned about John Sebastian Bach, after that we had a quiz about what we had learned. After doing these, Mr Herry gave us the coverage for the semester exam, it is about history and theory. I think it won't be that hard. After that Mr Herry distributed the 5 papers we have to study on for the exam, it is so long! I hope i do well in the exam!

Today in music class, we had the real and official quiz from Mr John. I had prepared for this quiz real well and i think that i did well, the quiz was not as hard as the first quiz and i think i will get a good mark for this one. After that i received my score for the gundul gundul pacul assessment and i recieved a 9 out of 10, i am very happy because this is the highest in the class.

Today, Mr John gave us the results of the previous quiz and i am very embarrassed of my results. I think that last time i did not study well in class and i regret it so much. I received a score of below 60 which is the first time in music class. Because most people in the class got low marks, Mr John decided to teach us triads again. He then said that there will be another quiz next session and that will be the quiz that will be put into our report cards.

Today in music class we learned some theory about chords. Mr John teached us about triads and it was really hard because i did not understand anything. And after this lesson, Mr John gave us a quiz and i knew that i would do bad in the quiz. Yes, my prediction was correct, i could not do the quiz at all!! However, i just submitted my work to Mr John. Today we also saw Ian's delayed performance with his saxophone due to his absences in the past few days.

Today, i also took my assessment with Andrew. B on the Indonesian Folk song, Gundul Gundul Pacul so far, we were the only group brave enough to use moves on our song! I am very glad about it :)

Today, i witnessed the rest of the guitar group and the flute group do their assessment. I really liked Eun Hye's performance, she is really good in playing the flute. I thought my guitar group played well also. For next week, i will prepare for a theory lesson.

Today in music class, we performed our assessment on our music composition. I had prepared well for this assessment and i got good results from it. I did not make any severe mistakes in my performance and i was confident throughout it. We witnessed a lot of great performances also today, especially from the piano group, they had some amazing compositions. I do not have any homework for next week since the other students will do their assessments :)

Today, we only had our practical session so that we could practice well with our instrument teachers for our own composition practical assessment. I did not have any problems with my song since i had already practiced well at home, however others were having a lot of problem with their songs and i had to help them. I hope i will do well on the assessment.

Today in music class, we wrote and submitted our final 32 bars composition to mr John. I was able to prepare my changes at home beforehand therefore i was able to complete the task easily in class.

In my instrument class today, i played my song with mr John and he fixed and helped me with the chords in order for it to be a good song.

For next week i will practice more on playing my song.

In this music class, we wrote a draft of the 32 bars composition and gave it to Mr.John. I was able to complete this task quickly due to the reason that i had prepared well at home for my composition. After submitting my draft, i helped my friends with theirs and helped them submit their draft. For next week, I will see what i will change from my draft to make a good final compositionPublish Post

Today in music class we sang 'La Bamba' as a class and also in groups according to our instrument class. We were able to learn from other groups how to sing the song properly especially my group was the last group to sing and it was an advantage for me because i was able to learn from the other three groups. Another thing that we did was we learned a new song called 'What a Wonderful World'.

For next week, i am going to prepare for the assessment that we are going to have on the song La Bamba. I will prepare well and hope i achieve a good mark for this assessment.

In this music session, we learned a spanish song called 'La Bamba'. At first it was really hard for me to memorize and pronounce the spanish lyrics, however after some time, i got a hang of it and i was able to sing the song. Mr. Herry and Mr. John however helped us with the lyrics and the rhythm and we managed to sing it properly. Another thing that i did this session was i submitted my midi files of the composer.

In this music session, the first thing that we did was we submitted our task of making a composition with one of the forms that we have learnt last session. Of course this is the first homework of this term and i have not forgotten to make and submit it. After submitting this homework i was glad to receive yet another homework from Mr. Herry that is to extend our composition to 32 bars and to research and download midi files of a composer. In my instrument class, i helped my friends to play some songs and do some scales.

This is the first day for music class in term 2, i am so excited! In this first class, we had an overview of what we are going to do in this term. For the task today, we did a practice on creating compositions in different forms such as AABA or ABBA etc. For next session i will prepare more on this

8 September 2009

Today, I submitted my individual report on pop rock music. I got some of the information from my group presentation but i also put additional information. I think my report was good and complete, i hope Mr Herry and Mr John would enjoy reading my report. I have pur a lot of effort into it.

Today we did an exercise involving scales. We learned about major and minor scales. I was able to understand the clear information from Mr John. Today we also received the music topic booklet. The booklet explained to us about what are we going to learn in this year. I am very excited to see the things there, and i hope it would be a fun year to come.

2 September 2009

Today we saw additional performances from Jean, Calista, and Ian. They did not perform last session because they were absent. They played quite well i think. After the performances, we learned about chords of major and minor. I have again, learned this before but i respected Mr. John and i copied the notes to my book and i listened to explanations.

For next week, i will learn all of the chords, triads and intervals that I have studied and i will review them for the test to come.

Today, i did my performance assessment. I performed one musical piece in front of the class. The musical piece i chose was 'Adelita'. The song is not that hard, however, it can be quite challenging in some parts. I think I did good and i made no mistakes throughout the whole performance.

Mr. Herry said that most of us did a good job in performing and Mr. John said I played well. I will try to keep this standard up for performances to come.

Today in music, i finally did the presentation on pop rock music. I think i did quite good overall. However, there were some technical problems during the presentation, the video clip i have prepared from my house did not work, and the speakers provided by the school also did not work, so we had to use kevin's phone.

According to Mr. John, i have to improve on presenting and on getting and researching on more info. Next time, i will research and prepare better.

Today in music class, we had a rehearsal practice for the application performance which is per forcing under sasaran for 1 nib, I was also called to perform in the stage. I think that i performed pretty good.

The next time i perform, i will improve on confidence and on the interpretation of a certain song.

Today in music class, Mr. John was absent, so Ms Melvina took over the class. She instructede us to sing the traditional song sounds called 'Hari Merdeka' I already knew this song and i did not have to use the lyrics given.

After that we discussed about our presentation in the chosen groups. I discussed with my group about the speed. I think that this assessment is hard and we have to wear proper uniform

Today in theory session, we learned about intervals. Mr john was the one who explained it to us. Again, i have learned this several times in the past, but it think it is good to refresh my memory about intervals. Mr John called some people up to the board, but luckily, i wasn't called.

For next week, i will make the homework given by Mr. John and i will understand intervals better.

Today was the singing assessment for the song heal the world. I sang the song with andrew. We were instructed to memorize the first verse until the chorus and then we were allowed to open the lyrics for the rest. I sang pretty good i think. I was not as nervous as before, and i hit the notes pretty well. I sang quite soft though, Mr John said i could have sang louder. I think that is something i should consider.

For next time, i think i will prepare better, i will rehearse, and i will sing louder so that it can be clear to people. For the memorizing part, i think i did pretty good and i did not forget any of the lyrics, infact i memorized most parts of verse 2. Next time, i will keep this up.

In the theory session, we studied about chords again, this time we studied about the 7th chord. Mr. Herry explained them very clear and concise. It was very easy for me and my friends to understand what he was saying. I think that i have learned a lot in theory class today.

After that, Mr. Herry informed us about the assessment that is going to come up in this month. The assessment is a group oral presentation about one genre of music. The genre of music to choose include pop rock music, jazz music, country music, and latin music. I was one of the group leaders and i got the pop rock music. I was pretty excited to get this genre.

4 August 2009 Tuesday

Today in music class, we continued learning the song heal the world. First we sang it all together and then we had to make groups of two and sing the song in front of the whole class. I was quite nervous but i did it. I sang the song with andrew. I am not that good in singing, but at least i tried my best to sing it properly in front of the class. I think i did pretty good.

For next week i have to learn the whole song for an assessment and i also have to practice the guitar. Today was quite fun.

Today was the first time we learned about notes in theory session with Mr. Herry. We learned about triads. I have already learned this in the past, but i still listened to the explanation and i paid attention and copied the things on the board to my notebook.

In the instrument class, we played a few songs. I wanted to try the song that andrew played for his audition. So we learned that song and andrew taught me how to play the song. Music class was pretty fun today. For next week i have to practice the guitar and i will do the homework from the theory session. I will do my best.

28 July 2009 Tuesday

This is the third week for music class. Today was the first instrument class session, i was very happy and excited to enter my instrument class. It turns out that there are more than 7 students in my instrument class, i am very excited, the more people, the more exciting. The people in the guitar class are me, andrew budi, bayu, kevin himawan, mark, emir, aryo, and jayne. In the instrument class, we started playing the guitar and Mr. John played songs for us.

In the theory session, we were given lyrics to the song 'Heal the World' by Michael Jackson. We are paying a tribute to the dead king of pop by singing one of his most famous hit singles. Mr. Hery played the piano and we sang the first verse and the chorus.

I think i will improve my guitar skills and also memorize heal the world so that i can be prepared for the next session to come.

Today was the audition for the guitar class. I played the song 'Blackbird' by The Beatles. I think i did pretty well considering the fact that we were only given 3 days to prepare. Some other people played interesting songs too such as 'La Grima' and also a pop song.

I think i need to improve on my performing skills, because during the performance, i was quite nervous and it quite lowered my performance. Mr. John picked 7 people in the end, and i was one of them. I am so happy to qualify for guitar class, i think it would be a fun class and i hope i get new challenges.

Next week we are going to start the instrument class and i hope it would be a fun one for all of us.

21 July Tuesday 2009

Today is the first music class after the holiday and since music classes stopped since semester 1 in year 9. I am very happy to be back in the classroom and i am excited to learn music again.

Today we had an introduction to the class since there are new students to the school. Mr

Herry and Mr. John explained to us what are we going to learn this term in music class. After that we picked our instruments to play. There was guitar, strings, piano, and a new addition, woodwinds. People were very excited of the newly added instrument class and i think there are many who wants to try new things, but I chose guitar. It turns out that the guitar class is quite full and an audition is going to be held next week for students who chose guitar as an instrument. I have to prepare one classical piece and Mr. John will pick 7 students to be in the guitar class.

I think today was a good start and i hope next week i can perform well in front of the class. I will prepare and do my best.
